Joan O’Donnell works as a Development Manager with the Disability Federation of Ireland where she has responsibility for the advancement of assistive technologies at a social policy level.
She is driven by an appreciation of the potential for assistive technologies to act as an emancipatory tool for putting control back in the hands of people with disabilities.
Additionally, Joan has responsibility in policy around income, social inclusion and employment of people with disabilities. She also chairs the FACS Forum Ireland. She has over 20 years’ experience in different roles in the disability and community sector, including counselling, facilitating, lecturing in psychology and teaching art. She holds an MSc in Systems Thinking in Practice.
