Fiachra O’Brolchain

Fiachra is an applied ethicist at the Institute of Ethics in the School of Theology, Philosophy and Music at Dublin City University. Fiachra wrote his thesis on the patenting of biotechnological products in order to analyse issues of justice relating to patenting, technology, trade, and the environment. Areas of interest include various aspects of applied ethics, such as virtual reality and social networking, human enhancement technologies, brain-computer interfaces, and pilot ‘Internet of Things’. Fiachra is currently a Marie Curie research fellow with the ASSISTID programme, focusing on the ethics of assistive technologies for people with autism and intellectual disabilities.
